Club News

Our Club continues to grow with new members being added each week.  We are getting close to covering all the start up costs and would encourage you to pay your dues {$50.00} if you haven't done so already.  I still haven't filed our LLC documents {$cost is around $75.00} to do so.  Please make your check out to Lonnie Parsons and you can mail it my home address at 5116 Flicker Drive, Pueblo, CO 81008.

Things Needing Attention:

  • This is not just a South Shore Marina Club,  members at the North Shore should feel free to recruit new members so get the word out .  If I have their e-mail address, I can mail them an application.
  • The committee boat continues to be a challenge.  Ideally, it would be nice to find an old pontoon or deck boat the Club could purchase and we could use the $5.00 race fee to compensate the two people needed to man it.
  • Placing the marks is a real challenge as some of you want short legs and others much longer.  Our last race was a litttle short as the winds conditions improved by race time.  Any one that has sailed here in Pueblo knows predicting the wind conditions is an in exact science at best.  The race committee can take over setting the marks now that we have one established.

This Saturday's Race - July 21st

This Saturday will be our fifth opportunity to host a race.  Captain's meeting at 11:30 South Shore Marina.  Proposed start time 1:00 PM .  Course will be an "Old Olympic Tri-angle.  This is a 5 leg race with three marks.  This is a makep race for the July 7th race that was canceled due to light winds.  Bob Perry will be coordinating as Rita and I will be out of town for the weekend.

Race Results

Race 1 - Made Up on July 14th.  Nine boats competed in variable winds on our first triangle course.  This was the second race of the day.  The start was terrific as all boats lined up and hit the line in a row.  The course was rather short due to very light winds during the setup.

Race 2 - Light wind - 10 boats competed of which 8 were LPYC members.  See standings for results.

Race 3 - Proposed make up date is July 21st.

Race 4 - Ten boats competed in changing wind conditions.  There was a corrected time of only 3 seconds between 1st (Silloutte) and 2nd (Irie) in what became a drag race on the last leg.  The start was pretty wild due to gusty conditions at the time.  Lonnie & Rita Parsons acted as the committee boat for both races on July 14th and did not compete.
