Liberty Point Yacht Club

The reggatas are fun events to include those skippers and members that aren't interested in partaking in the more formal races.  Since these are an organized event in the eyesof the Park Service, a $5.00 enter fee will be collected prior to each event.

July 3rd -  This is a cruising race that begins at 9:00 PM.  Two marks will be placed approximately 3 to 4 miles apart on an East to West Axis.  The marks will be illuminated with chemical sticks to aid in navigation.  To complete the race, each boat must cover 6 legs with the last leg a sprint to the finish at a place to be determined by the race committee   The winning boat gets the Captain Jack trophy (and swashbuckler notoriety) for a year with the trophy to be proudly displayed at their home port.  Pre-Race Parlay to proceed the start by 45 minutes.  All crew members participating are encourage to dress in appropriate pirate attire.  The best dressed crew will be selected by the membership committee and awarded One Gallon of Rum.  (They will be expected to share the booty with  the rest of pirates after the regatta of course).  The best dressed individual will receive a treasure chest of uncountable value.  You must be a club member to participate.

August 11th - The Vectra Cup.  A four mark cruising race that will cover a course of approximately 10 miles.  Start time to be between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM depending on wind conditions. Boats will be required to cover 6 legs.  The winning boat receives the "Vectra Cup" a traveling trophy sponsored by Vectra Bank.  At the conclusion of the race, Vectra will sponsor a steak fry for all participating crews.  You must be a club member to participate.

October 6th - Fall Cruise the last sailing event of the season.  This a cruise down to the west side of the lake for a potluck picnic at a beach to be determined.  This is to celebrate our first year and close out the season on a positive note.  All sailors on the lake will be encouraged to join the cruise and the Club.
